I’ve been programing mills for 5-6 years and currently use Mastercam so I have some previous CAM experience. I’ve got close to 500 part numbers to program so making the process as quick and painless as possible would be nice. Some kind of nesting routine and auto tool assignment is mandatory even if a bit of manual rearranging is needed. There is limited ability to handle splines (convert splines to arcs/lines) and tweaking tool sequencing manually is clunky at best. Some things I don’t like are that despite the Windows ribbon style interface the program feels stuck in the mid 1990’s. So far some things I like about Fabriwin is the job scheduler/nesting routine that is built in and that it is supported by Amada.
I have also tried Profab from Applied Produtions but was not very impressed with it. I’ve got a 30 day trial of Fabriwin 2013 that I’ve been using for a couple of weeks and while the program seems okay I would like to know if anybody has a better recommendation. We recently purchased a new Amada turret punch and I’m hoping someone can make a CAM recommendation. I’m double posting this in the CAM and Fab forums in the hope it will reach the right eyes.
